We support communities and people to reach their full potential
Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
Vision
We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.
By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all.
Diabetes
The Wisconsin Lions have formed a state-wide group of volunteers to promote the efforts of diabetes education and Lions diabetes projects in the state of Wisconsin. There is a representative from each district in this group who will coordinate communication between the Lions clubs and this group.
Grants
Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world. LCIF was also ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a 2007 study by The Financial Times.
Hunger
We serve to ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods. Lions and Leos serve to improve human flourishing, and we see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon our local communities. We believe community improvement depends on the thriving of its members.
Youth
Young people are global change makers. Their fresh perspectives and insights drive change in our organization, in their communities and in the world.
Our community projects often support local children and schools through scholarships, recreation and mentoring. Internationally, we offer many programs, including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange and Lions Quest.
Environment,
Humanitarian & Disaster Relief
We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities.
Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world.
Whenever and wherever disaster strikes, Lions are often among the first to offer aid. LCIF is ready to support their efforts with funding assistance through global disaster relief programs.
Childhood Cancer
Lions and Leos provide support for the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer through impactful service activities. LCIF Childhood Cancer grants empower Lions to improve the quality of life for children receiving treatment and their families. LCIF Matching grants provide equipment and construction for large-scale projects that address unmet humanitarian needs.
Lions help during disasters
Together, our Foundation and Lions are helping communities following natural disasters by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies – and aiding in long-term reconstruction.
Lions are active. Our motto is “We Serve.” Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities.
